Diane Maxey, a native Texan now residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, has a degree in Art and Education from the University of North Texas. After several years of teaching public school and trying to find time for her painting she established her own watercolor studio and began her long career of a watercolor artist and watercolor instructor. Diane spends most of her time painting watercolor inspired from her gardens, travel in the US and Europe, and teaching watercolor workshops. Participation in national competitions, exhibitions, invitational shows and exhibiting in galleries occupies much of Dianes activities in her studio. For many years, the majority of her work reflects life around her - pot gardens, patios, red geraniums, blooming cactus, and shadows of hibiscuses, lattice, baskets, and warm Arizona sun. In the past few years, Diane's extensive world travel has greatly expanded the subject matter of her paintings to depict her favorite location either in Arizona or around the world. Dianes passions include a deep love of God, nature, and working in watercolor, photography, and creating gardens - either on paper or at home. Dianes work may be seen at: Scottsdale Fine Arts , E. Main, Scottsdale, AZ and Sonrise Gallery, Carmel CA. Diane and her husband, Bill, spend time spoiling their two dogs now that the children are busy in their own lives. Bill and Diane have spent the last few years rebuilding a home in Paradise Valley where Diane uses her love of flowers and gardening to landscape, while Bill is the designer and contractor for the remodeling. Bill a private pilot and they both enjoy flying to different location to ski, hike, fish, and paint watercolor. In their spare time, they direct and produce their churchs dramatic programs and have been Bible Study directors in their church where Bill is an ordained deacon and Diane works with the Womens Ministries. Bill is active on the board of their homeowners association while Diane stays active with the local art organizations. Studio: Something for all levels. |
