WATERCOLOR PAINTING JUST GOT EASIER FOR YOU
NO MORE TIME WASTING WITH TRIAL AND ERROR
SUPRISE YOUR CLOSE ONE'S WHEN THEY SEE YOUR PAINTINGS
IF YOU THINK YOU CAN PAINT OR IF YOU THINK YOU CANNOT PAINT YOU ARE RIGHT.
YOU CAN LEARN TO PAINT BEAUTIFUL WATERCOLORS.
THOUGHTS FOR THE COMING YEAR
What lies behind us?.
What lies before us.?
Both are tiny matters, compared to what lies within us.
Criticize yourself mercilessly, and allow others to do the same to you
What I have seen and heard over the years from students."MY biggest critics are people that I am most close to".The he-she do not intend to be mean with their remarks, but suddenly become a great judge of a subject they know nothing about. Art
Take them with a good attitude, ask yourself where did they get educated about art. Listen, don't get bent out of shape, some points they make will be valid.
Above all DO NOT LET THEM DISCOURAGE YOU.
If you do your internal voice (left side brain) will quickly send messages like......maybe you are too busy - old - nobody will like your work - don't spend the money - wait till you have more money - quit you tore up the last two paintings - what makes you think you can paint - etc - etc.
Remember the Left Side of the brain is what modern brain scientists now know to be your verbal and rational brain, it thinks serially and reduces its thoughts to numbers, letters and words.
It ,without a doubt, is the dominate role maker, jealousy arises when you try to use the right brain.which is.....non-verbal, intuitive thinking in patterns or pictures, composed of "whole things" and does not comprehend reductions, either numbers, letters or words.
Right side thinking perfect for artists.
But the Left Side will not like it......hence all the negative thoughts it throws at you. - IGNORE
The little fellow that resides in your Left Brain could well be another nasty internal critic. They might keep up a constant stream of subversive remarks that are often disguised as the truth.
This fellow says things like "You call that a painting, what a joke". Or "if you haven't done it by now you never will". "What makes you think you can be creative" and on and on it goes
For 2009 and beyond
Make this rule - Write it down, place it where you will see it often - "The negative opinions made by my negative fellow IS NOT THE TRUTH".
It will take a lot of practice to ignore them, but you must do it.
Write down the negative thoughts that keep rattling on. Note how it loves to aim for your creative jugular. Make no mistake they are out to get you.
It is a cunning for. Every time you get smarter, so does it.
So you painted one nice painting - (but here they come). "It's no master piece, you are going to mess up the next attempt".
So for the coming year "lets be more creative". I will give you very interesting pointers ,how to do this by having fun and painting a whole lot better
See you next week.
HAPPY NEW YEAR - Jim & Dorothy
